Kerry County Council Community Support Fund 2015

Released: 26 February 2015

Kerry County Council appreciates the valuable contribution that communities make to the overall well being of the county and its people. The contribution by groups & associations enhances in a significant and meaningful way the quality of services available, the appearance of our towns, villages and landscapes, the vitality and energy of communities and the overall attractiveness of Kerry as both a destination and a place to live.

In recognition of this valuable work Kerry County Council has developed the Community Support Fund.

This Fund is provided from the Local Property Tax, through the decision of the Elected Council.

This first year of operation will be reviewed and amended reflecting the needs of communities.  The development of the Local Economic & Community Plan during 2015 will also offer a strategic focus to the fund for future years.

This Funding will be available where:

  • Alternative funding is not available
  • Where significant matching funding is required and where groups can demonstrate significant local input through time or resources.

The Community Support Fund for 2015 is proposed as a flexible mechanism to allow funding reach deserving communities. It is understood that the needs of individual communities vary to a large extent, and the level of funding being sought will reflect this. The funding scheme is broadly classified under the following areas:-

  • Community Projects
  • Local Economic Development and Promotion
  • Local Tourism, Festivals & Events
