Year of the Craft 2011

If you are a Kerry-based producer of handmade craft and artisan gift products, a distributor, a studio owner, a craft association or guild, a community based organiser of craft activity, a production or trade show manager for craft product, a craft festival or craft fair organiser please do accept this invitation to join me to discuss the “Year of Craft 2011” initiative for County Kerry.

It is hoped that a meeting of minds will take place at

Council Chambers, Kerry County Council,

Rathass, Tralee, on

Monday, 28th February

From 10.00 to 11.30am

The purpose of the meeting is to bring together craft professionals and craft sector representatives from around the county to identify the key needs of the sector so that we can put in place a plan to promote the sustained growth of Kerry-based craft businesses into the future.

The “Year of Craft 2011” is an initiative of The Crafts Council of Ireland and Craft Northern Ireland, marking the 40th anniversary of the Crafts Council of Ireland. The initiative aims to make the very best of craft from the island of Ireland more visible and more accessible to the wider public and to celebrate its diversity through a wide range of dynamic events and programmes throughout Ireland, North and South.

The initiative is supported locally by Kerry County Council, Kerry County Enterprise Board and Udarás Na Gaeltachta, and is co-ordinated by Deirdre Johnston, an independent Tralee-based, business development facilitator, Deirdre Johnston of Fruition
