Kerry County Council has appointed contractor, Ned O’Shea & Sons Ltd to construct 20 new housing units in Killarney. The houses are being provided under the government’s Rebuilding Ireland programme at a cost of €3.1m.
The units, which will be constructed at The Park, Killarney, will be two-storey three-bedroom units which are due to be completed in February 2018.
The contract for the project was signed at County Buildings in Tralee in the presence of the Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council, Cllr Michael O’Shea, the Cathaoirleach of Killarney Municipal District, Cllr Brendan Cronin and the Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell.
Welcoming the signing of the contract, the Cathaoirleach of the Killarney Municipal District, Cllr Brendan Cronin said the additional housing units would greatly assist in providing homes to those on the local authority waiting list.
“It is wonderful to see Kerry County Council being in a position to construct houses again and this is particularly welcome in Killarney. These 20 units will help to address the needs of applicants on the housing waiting lists in the area and I look forward to their completion at the earliest opportunity,” said Cllr. Cronin.
