Mayor welcomes Local Authority Members Association To Conference in Killarney

The Mayor of Kerry, Cllr. Ted Fitzgerald today welcomed over 450 local authority members from 140 local authorities in Ireland to their annual Spring Conference in Killarney.

The 2 day Conference will address the challenges for local authority members in implementing and delivering on the €184 million investment proposed under the National Development Plan 2007 – 2013.

Key Speakers at the Conference will include Mr. David Walsh, from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, who will outline how the proposed investment will deliver on National Policy, Mr. Tom Kirby, Director, Mid-West Regional Authority and Mr. John McAleer, Regional Director, South West Regional Authority who will outline the challenges in the Regions in promoting the National Spatial Strategy. Mr. Brian Crowley, MEP will outline the challenges faced for Ireland in an enlarged European Union.

Mayor of Kerry, Cllr. Ted Fitzgerald stated that “he was delighted to welcome his fellow councillors to Killarney despite the fact that this was a busy year for all delegates, who are on the campaign trail for the elections North and South of the Border. He hoped that they would enjoy the visit to Kerry”

Cllr. Billy Ireland, Chairman of LAMA, stated that he was delighted to be back in Kerry and that the 2 day conference would allow for a sharing of the wealth of experience from members serving the needs of their communities.
