Tuesday is closing date for Draft Register of Electors

Released: 19 November 2008

With the Draft Register of Electors closing on Tuesday next, November 25th, Kerry County Council is calling on all people over the age of 18 to check the Draft Register to ensure that they are eligible to vote.

With the Local and European Elections taking place next year, it is crucial that people wishing to have their voice heard on Election Day, are on the Draft Register. Those who are not on the Draft Register, or whose details are incorrect, may miss out on the chance to vote.

Over the past few months, Enumerators have been calling to all houses in Kerry, confirming voters’ details and updating the Draft Register. In some cases deletion notices were issued where an Enumerator was unable to establish if an elector was resident in the area. Those who feel that these were issued in error can contact the Kerry County Council’s Register of Electors office at Lo-Call 1800 245 380.

Additionally, if people celebrated their 18th birthday this year, or moved address, they may find themselves omitted from the Draft Register, or their details may be incorrect. In this case they should also contact the Register of Electors Office. It is important that people check the Draft Register before it closes on November 25th

The Draft Register of Electors is now on display at Kerry County Council offices Town Council offices, Garda Stations, Libraries, Post Offices, and online at www.checktheregister.ie
