Iveragh Park wins Pride of Place Award

Iveragh Park Housing Estate, Killorglin was the toast of Kerry last weekend, when they captured a top award at the Pride of Place Awards in Newcastle, Co. Down. The Killorglin estate was one of three Kerry finalists in the Pride of Place Awards, which took place in the Slieve Donard Hotel on Saturday night. And they captured top prize in the Housing Estates Category, rewarding the hard work they have put in over the years. Portmagee were runners-up in the Small Community Category, while Glenbeigh were shortlisted in their category, According to Peter Sheridan Chief Executive of Co-operation Ireland, the Pride of Place Awards “are an indication of the flourishing community spirit there is around the island of Ireland. It is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate those within our community who do so much but who rarely get the recognition they deserve.” Mayor of Kerry, Cllr Bobby O’Connell congratulated the Iveragh Park Estate. “It is a deserved award for a community who has put in a major effort to make their estate a better place to live, and who have helped so many people along the way. “Through our Kerry Community Awards, Iveragh Park, Portmagee and Glenbeigh were chosen to represent Kerry at the Pride of Place Awards and they have shown the very best of Kerry people working in their community, for their community.”
