Kerry Development Board launches new Business Website

Released: 26 June 2012

A new website aimed at providing information about Kerry to businesses and potential investors was launched at Kerry County Council’s headquarters on Monday, June 25th, 2012.

The website, is the brainchild of the Kerry Economic Development Unit, a sub-group of the Kerry County Development Board. The 11 organisations involved in the KEDU, under the chairmanship of County Manager Tom Curran, felt that it was necessary to develop a website which can act as a one-stop-shop for those looking at what Kerry has to offer businesses and investors.

“A lot of work has gone into the development of and we are hopeful that it will pay off in the future,” Mayor of Kerry Cllr Tim Buckley explained at the launch.

“When it comes to attracting businesses to locate in and invest in Kerry, we have to overcome significant challenges. It is our job to highlight the positives of what the county has to offer, and to point out the advantages for anybody choosing to live, work or invest in Kerry. The website will assist in this and highlights those companies who have either started in Kerry and grown their business globally, or who have chosen to locate in the county.”

Kerry County Manager Tom Curran pointed out that the various organisations and agencies collaborating under the umbrella of the Kerry County Development Board was vital in ensuring Kerry was properly promoted globally.

“Now more than ever it is crucial that we are all working together in a co-ordinated manner to promote the advantages of Kerry,” he said “This ensures that the various agencies are not duplicating each other’s efforts and are getting the best possible results from their work.”

The agencies involved in the KEDU include: Kerry County Council, the Chamber of Commerce, County Enterprise Board, Enterprise Ireland, FAS, IBEC, IDA, Institute of Technology Tralee, Local Development Companies, Shannon Development and Údarás Na Gaeltachta.

The website contains information about economic development in Kerry, including information relating to education, workforce, infrastructure, accommodation and the high standard of living in the county.
