Kerry County Council is participating in an Intelligent Energy Europe project called SmartReFlex. This project aims at increasing the diffusion of flexible district heating and cooling systems using a high share of renewable energy sources in European cities and towns. District heating enables utilization of locally sourced biomass and other renewable energy sources. The project commenced in March 2014 and will run for a period of 36 months. This project is part funded under the Intelligent Energy Europe programme.
