General Signage

General Signage
Please note that any new general signage erected anywhere within County Kerry must be done so in Irish, or bilingual, as specified by the Official Languages Act 2003.

Signage prior to 1st March 2009
Signs which were already in place on 1st March 2009 and which do not comply with the Regulations (S.I. No. 391 of 2008) must be corrected with immediate effect or removed.

Gaeltacht Signage
In addition, any signage erected in Gaeltacht areas can be done so in Irish only. If signage is erected in bilingual format then prominence must be given to the Irish in accordance with Section 3.10 of Kerry County Council’s Scéim Gaeilge.

Oifig na Gaeilge is available to help with signage translation and to advise on practices that will reduce costs and subsequent complaints.

To proof your signs, simply send a JPEG or PDF of the final artwork to gaeilge@ciarrai.ie and we will respond asap.
