Shared Ownership Scheme
The Shared Ownership Scheme offers home ownership to those who cannot afford full ownership in one step in the traditional way. Initially, ownership of the house is shared between the applicant and Kerry County Council. When you have been approved in principle by Kerry County Council for shared ownership, you may select a new or second hand house. From the start, you must purchase at least 40% of the value of the house and rent the remaining share (60% or less) from Kerry County Council. You may pay for the share you are purchasing by taking a mortgage loan from Kerry County Council or by contributing cash of your own.
