Global Recognition for Kerry Skies
South West Kerry has today been  designated a Gold Tier Dark Skies Reserve by the International Dark Sky Association based in Tucson, Arizona. The formal announcement and presentation will made this evening (Jan 27) in Cahersiveen (19.30) by Dr. Christopher Kyba, European Board member of IDSA.  This will place Kerry at the forefront of Astro-Tourism which is a growing niche within international tourism. Kerry County Council  has been working closely with Julie Ormonde and her Kerry Dark Skies Committee for a number of years and the award of Gold Tier Status has been welcomed by the Mayor of Kerry Cllr. Séamus Cosaí Fitzgerald and County Manager, Tom Curran.
