Orange Weather Alert

Update from Kerry County Council

Met Éireann have UPDATED their ORANGE wind weather alert for County Kerry as follows:- "UPDATE of Warning: West to southwest mean winds will reach speeds of 65 to 80 km/h with gusts of up to 110 to 130 km/h this afternoon, and in the east this evening. There is the risk that those limits could be exceeded for a short period this afternoon, especially in exposed western coastal areas."

Such wind speeds may result in a risk of damage or injury from falling trees or flying debris. Kerry County Council advises property owners to ensure that bins and loose objects such as hoardings and signage are secured or removed.

All unnecessary travel during the high risk periods this afternoon should be avoided if possible. During this period people should stay indoors if at all possible.  

Coastal areas are most at risk and the Council advises everyone to stay away from coastlines and exposed areas this afternoon.
