Temporary Closing of Roads - Killarney Historic Stages Rally

Notice is hereby given that, pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993, and the Temporary Closing of Roads Regulations 1994, Kerry County Council and Cork County Council propose to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder to facilitate the holding of the Killarney Historic Stages Rally on Saturday, 3rd December 2011.


SS1 & SS4: Molls Gap

Road closures from 07.00 to 14:00

National Secondary road: N71

Starting 100m beyond the entrance to Muckross House via Galway’s Bridge, Molls Gap via Carraig East and finishing at Carrig Cross.

SS2 & SS5: Beallaghbeama

Road closures from 08.00 to 11:00 and 11:50 to 14:50

Regional and Local roads: R-568, L-7545, L-4047 and L-3502

Starting at Blackwater Bridge via Maulcallee Cross to the R568 at Geahra Bridge Cross, Gearha Cross via Tooreenafersha and Beallaghbeama Gap and finishing at Shronahiree More.


SS3 & SS6: Caragh Lake

Road closures from 08:45 to 11:40 and 12:20 to 15:30

Local roads: L-4019, L-4017, L-4018 and L-4020

Starting at Shanacashel Crossroads to Blackstones Bridge to Drom East, Bunglasha North, Lough Beg to Quaybaun Crossroads and finishing at Tooreenasliggaun Cross.


SS7 & SS8: Gortnagane

Road closures from 14.20 to 19:00

Local roads County Kerry: L-3014 and L-7057

Local roads County Cork: L-1133 and L-1130

Starting at Headford East Cross via Drom, Dooncarrig, Gortnagane to the Cork County Bounds, from the County Bounds at The Standing Stone at Awnaskirtawn via the (L-1133) to the crossroads at Caherbarnagh via (L-1130) to Hollymount to the Kerry County Bounds at Hollymount Bridge as far as Shinnagh crossroads at Rathmore.


Alternative Route From Caherbarnagh

County Road L-1130 to Croohigs Cross and then to County Road L-5171 to Ballydaly and via R582 to Rathmore.


Alternative Route From Hollymount

County Road L-52181 from Hollymount 3 Rds to Knocknalomon 3 Rds and via County Road L-5218 to Inches and via R582 to Rathmore.

The Gleneagle Hotel will be used as a SERVICE AREA.

In addition all adjoining public roads will be closed for a distance of 200m from each junction with the above routes.

Any person having an objection to this proposal should lodge same with the Administrative Officer, Roads and Transportation Department, Aras an Chontae, Tralee, on or before Tuesday, 15 November 2011.
