Temporary Closing of Roads - Ring of Kerry Cycle

                           TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ROADS                             




Notice is hereby given that pursuant to Section 75 of the Roads Act 1993 and the Temporary Closing of Roads Regulations 1994, Kerry County Council proposes to close to public traffic the roads described hereunder to facilitate the holding of the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle on

Saturday, 7th July 2012.

Fossa to Killorglin   

Road Closed:  N72

(Road Closing Times: from 6.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.)

Starting from the junction of the N72 and the R563 Milltown Road at Fossa via Ballymalis and Anglont and finishing at the junction of the N72 and N70 at Laune Bridge, Killorglin.    

(Traffic diversions will be in place via the R563 through Faha and Listry and the N70 from Milltown to Killorglin.)

Killorglin to Caragh Bridge (Eastbound Lane)

Road Closed  N70 (Eastbound Lane)

(Road Closing Time: from 6:00 a.m. to 12 noon)

Starting at the Iveragh Road Roundabout via Iveragh Road, Tullig, Quaybaun and finishing at Caragh Bridge.

(A one-way traffic diversion will be in place for traffic travelling eastbound from Caherciveen and Glenbeigh on the L-4022/L-4033/L-4034 Local Primary routes via Dooks, Cromane, Garraun and Castleconway.  Traffic travelling westbound from Killorglin to Glenbeigh will remain on the N70.)

Sneem to Blackwater Bridge   (Eastbound Lane)

Roads Closed:  N70 (Eastbound Lane)

(Road Closing Time: from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.)

Starting at the junction of the N70 and the R568 in Sneem, via Parknasilla, Tahilla, and finishing at the junction of the L-4074 and N70 at Blackwater Bridge.

(A traffic diversion will be in place for eastbound traffic from Sneem to Kenmare via the R568 Regional Road and the L-4074 Road to Blackwater Bridge, traffic will then continue on the N70.  Traffic travelling westbound from Kenmare to Sneem will remain on the N70.)

Kenmare to Torc  

Road Closed: N-71

(Road Closing Times: from 12 noon to 8.00 p.m.)

Starting at the junction of the N70 and N71 at Gortamullin via Molls Gap and Galway’s Bridge and finishing at Torc Waterfall Car Park.

(Road users are advised that the N71 Muckross Road will remain fully open all day from Killarney to the Torc Waterfall Car Park.  Motorists travelling between Killarney and Kenmare at the above times are advised to use the alternative N22 / R569 route via Glenflesk and Kilgarvan.  Motorists are also advised that long delays can be expected at the above times for traffic on the N71 travelling in the direction of Killarney from Molls Gap, as it is proposed to convoy the traffic and in particular touring coaches on this section of the cycle route for the safety of the participants.)  

Any person having an objection to this proposal should lodge same, in writing, with the Administrative Officer, Roads, Transportation & Safety Department, Kerry County Council, Áras an Chontae, Tralee, County Kerry not later than 5.00 p.m. on Tuesday, 19th June 2012.
