The primary aim of the Irish Office is to support Council staff in providing services through Irish for the people of Kerry.

Funding in part with Foras na Gaeilge via the Féilte le Gaeilge bursary, to encourage Irish language events at festivals in Kerry.
Irish Course for Council Tenants in the Gaeltacht in conjunction with the Housing Department, and with the support of Údarás na Gaeltachta and Kerry Education Services. Cork University of Ireland run the course in Dún Chíomháin, in the West Kerry Gaeltacht.
Support for various organisations and groups to promote the acquisition, enrichment and use of Irish in Kerry .
A simultaneous translation service for public meetings in the Gaeltacht, including An Daingean Electoral Area Meetings.
Irish language proofing of County Council and Town Councils’ signs, leaflets and forms. Irish language proofing of any translation work carried out by the Nominated Irish Officers.
Support the Nominated Irish Officers in providing Services through Irish to our customers.
Liaise with the Office of the Coimisinéir Teangan regarding complaints from the public in relation to our Irish Language commitments.
