Weather Alert from Kerry County Council for issue to the General Public - 12.00pm, Friday, 11th December 2015

Met Éireann have issued a Status Orange rainfall warning for Kerry, Cork and Clare.

Prolonged falls of very heavy rain expected overnight Friday and during Saturday with totals of 30mm to 50mm, larger totals on higher ground.  Further flooding is expected.

Valid from midnight Friday, 11th December to midnight on Saturday, 12th December.

Given these conditions, there may be a risk of localised flooding, particularly in areas that have been prone to flooding in the past and the Council is advising property owners, particularly in areas prone to flooding to take appropriate measures to minimise the risk of flooding to their properties.

Council staff have been out all day calling to people in the high risk areas which have been prone to flooding in the past and who experienced flooding last weekend.

Council staff are monitoring the situation and regular updates will be provided through the local media, on the Council website and on Twitter.
