Name: Atlantic – Portrait of an Ocean

Details: A major new exhibition of landscape photography featuring 15 massive canvases and a collection of large prints focusing on the life of the Dingle Peninsula’s Atlantic seaboard. From winter storms to summer sunsets the fine art prints from award winning photographer Chris May exhibit this much loved part of Ireland in a way that is rarely seen. Five years of research and development have culminated in an exhibition that will inspire and delight.

The exhibition coincides with the launch of a large format fine art photographic book of the same name featuring 50 prints, taking the reader on a sumptuous tour of the Dingle Peninsula and providing a definitive look at it’s coast line and Islands.

The Photographer: Chris May is an award winning published photographer living on the Dingle Peninsula within sight of the Atlantic Ocean. His passion for photographs started when he was ten years old and after working in Theatre Photography for eight years he became an independent professional in 2012. Working from his Gallery on the Slea Head Drive Chris has spent the last five years putting together a portrait of the Atlantic. From wild storms and six meter waves to calm sunsets and vibrant colours he has ensured that each shot captures the location at its very best. Some of the photographs have taken several years to acquire.

“I push the limits of photography to try and capture the time and space of the moment, exposing the underlying emotion of nature and the quiescent feeling that the location evokes. The very reason why the Dingle peninsula is pure magic.” Chris May
