Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2019

Kerry County Council is seeking ‘Expressions of Interests’ from organisations and groups who may have suitable projects for consideration under the above schemes. These schemes have been developed by the Department of Rural and Community Development and Department of Housing Planning and Local Government to support measures which rejuvenate rural and urban towns and villages throughout Ireland. Kerry County Council, at this early stage is trying to ascertain the potential level of interest and the type/nature of projects that may be eligible under the schemes.

All Expressions of Interest will be assessed based on the priorities as contained in the Scheme Outlines above.

Urban Regeneration Development Fund: This fund supports the compact growth and sustainable development of Ireland’s five cities and other large urban centres, which only applies to Killarney and Tralee in County Kerry. Expressions of Interest are invited to be submitted as either ‘ready-to-go’, Category A proposals or as Category B proposals that require further development. The minimum overall value of the proposal is set at €2 million.

Rural Regeneration Development Fund:

The objective of this fund is to support coordinated and integrated projects which will have an impact on sustainable economic and social development in rural areas. The Fund will support ambitious and strategic projects which contribute to sustainable rural regeneration and development. Key outcomes will be to support sustainable community and economic development in rural Ireland, including through regenerating smaller towns and villages and encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation to support job creation in rural areas.

Town & Village Renewal Scheme 2019:

Project proposals must include activities that will have clear positive economic impacts on the town or village making them more attractive places in which to live and work, and to increase their tourism potential. Successful proposals must demonstrate close collaboration between communities and business interests in the design and delivery of proposed projects and must have the support of the Local Authority. All projects under each scheme should also outline the consultation process undertaken.

All interested groups must complete an Expression of Interest Form and return to the Community Department, Kerry County Council, Rathass, Tralee or email to [email protected] no later than Tuesday, 30th April 2019.

Please note that the submission of an Expression of Interest does not guarantee a final application to the Department to consider the project for funding. Projects that are shortlisted to Application Stage will be formally notified by the local authority.
