Kerry County Council Draft Noise Action Plan 2019

Kerry County Council being the designated Action Planning Authority under Article 7 of the Environmental Noise Regulations, 2006 (SI No. 140 of 2006) has prepared a Draft Noise Action Plan to address noise from major roads in the county with traffic flows greater than 3 million vehicles per annum. The plan does not apply to noise from domestic activities, noise created by neighbours, noise at workplaces or noise inside a means of transport or due to military activities in military areas.

The draft plan and associated maps will be available for inspection from 27th March to 8th May 2019 during normal working hours (9.00 am to 4.00 pm) at the following locations:

Submissions or observations in respect of the draft plan should be made in writing entitled Submission – Draft Noise Action Plan’ before 4.00 pm 22nd May 2019 to:

Burial Grounds

There are 153 Burial Grounds under the control of Kerry County Council. The Council employs part –time caretakers to look after the upkeep of many of these burial grounds.

It is Council policy to work with and involve local communities in the maintenance and upkeep of local burial grounds. Kerry County Council currently works with and gives financial aid to 50 Local Burial Ground Committees.

It is important to note that 92 of the County’s 153 Burial Grounds are classified as Archaeological sites and, accordingly, are protected by the National Monuments Act.   Any works to be undertaken in these Burial Grounds require advance approval from the Council’s engineering and archaeological staff.
