The Community Support Fund, which is now in its fourth year, has supported over 1,000 projects since 2015 to the value of almost €2 and a quarter million. All projects supported are geographically dispersed across the four Municipal Districts and reflect the economic and community needs of the County.
This years Community Support fund has been re-focused to target funding under 5 categories of support which will facilitate the award of a higher level of support which will result in a more visible and positive impact on the local community.

The five categories are outlined below:-
A. Building Sustainable Communities/Quality of Life
1. Growing and Sustainable Communities
2. Community Tidy Towns Initiatives and Amenity Projects
3. Community Sport and Physical Activity programmes
B. Community Based Economic Development and Job Creation
1. Community Economic Innovation
2. Community Based Tourism, Festivals and Events

This year a minimum grant of €500 applies to all categories to attract projects which would have the potential to have a more visible and positive impact on the local community.

Similar to last year, it is intended that some of the Community Support Fund will be used to target strategic projects in Municipal Districts and that it will be used to co-fund projects which are in receipt of grants from other sources. In 2017, almost €1million was leveraged from other grant sources such as Town and Village Renewal and the Outdoor Recreation Fund as a result of the strategic allocation of resources under the Community Support Fund.
