Dog Fouling

It is an offence under the Litter Pollution Act 1997 (as amended) not to clean up after your dog if it fouls in a public place. Dog fouling left on foot paths, roadways, community parks and other public areas causes a major nuisance and is a potential health hazard.

Failure to pick up after your dog is an offence under the Litter Pollution Act 1997 and may result in the offender being issued with an on-the-spot fine of €150 or on summary conviction to a fine of up to €3,000.

  • You must pick up and bin dog poo when in public places.
  • Remember: Bag it and Bin it!

In line with the 2018 Kerry County Council Burial Grounds Bye-Laws, dogs are not permitted in any Kerry County Council Burial Grounds (with the exception of guide dogs and assistance dogs).
