Community Awards / Pride of Place

Kerry Community Awards
The Kerry Community Awards Committee is made up of representatives from the Kerry Public Participation Network (PPN), Kerry County Council, The Kerryman, Local Development Company (NEWKD), Udarás na Gaeltachta, Credit Union & Southern Marketing Design Media.

The objective of the Kerry Community Awards is to recognise the work of the community and voluntary sector that seeks to improve the Social, Economic, Cultural and Environmental quality of life in our local communities, both urban and rural. 

Kerry Community Awards are open to all community and voluntary groups based in the county, regardless of size or location.  Groups must assist, support or enrich their community in some way, either socially or economically

An Annual Recognition Awards Ceremony is held following adjudication of the entries, with the top ten entries (Gold Winners) and next ten (Silver Winners) receiving a monetary prize and plaque.  The Overall Winner receives overall monetary prize and Trophy.

National Pride of Place Awards in association with Co-operation Ireland
Local authorities across the 32 counties are invited to nominate entries on an annual basis.  Kerry County Council’s entries to Pride of Place are selected from the Kerry Community Awards.

The focus of Pride of Place is on people coming together to change and improve daily lives in their communities.

The purpose of the competition is to acknowledge the work being done on a daily basis by communities all over the island of Ireland.  The competition is based on communities, demonstrating their pride in their place.  Following adjudication an annual National Awards Ceremony is held in recognition of the work of community groups.
