Enjoy Researching Your Ancestry

Since 1700 approximately 10 million people born in Ireland have
emigrated from this Island in search of a new life in the United States
of America, Canada, Australia, Great Britain and several other countries
around the world.  With more than 80 million people worldwide now
claiming Irish descent, there is an increasing demand for knowledge
of our ancestry.  Genealogical data is available online (see links below)
but if you would like to incorporate a little research on who you are
and where you came from, into your holiday in Kerry, the following
resources are available.

Kerry County Library has a local history and archives department
located in Moyderwell, Tralee www.kerrylibrary.ie which houses a
large collection of genealogical records for County Kerry including
Kerry Place Names Survey, newspapers dating back to the 19th Century,
local area maps, several books about Kerry and Kerry authors and
several other reference date to assist you with your genealogy research.

Church Records are available free of charge for research on
www.irishgenealogy.ie and Kerry Local Authorities Graveyard
Records have been indexed and scanned which include 140 records
for cemeteries in the county and are available to research, free of
charge at www.kerrylaburials.ie
