Increase in Baseline Income Thresholds for Social Housing Support applicants

The Social Housing Assessment (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations 2022 have resulted in the baseline income thresholds for social housing support applicants being increased for all local authorities with effect from 1st January 2023.

The new income eligibility threshold for a single person applying to Kerry County Council has now increased from €30,000 to €35,000. The increased allowances of 5% (€1,750) for each adult household member (subject to a maximum of 10%) and 2.5% (€875) for each dependent child (no maximum) are not changing.

The revised thresholds for different household compositions are set out in the table below:

  • was removed from the social housing waiting list due to exceeding the thresholds in place at that time, and
  • subsequently reapplies and is assessed as being eligible under the revised threshold, will keep the time they accrued and would subsequently have accrued had they remained on the housing list.
  • These arrangements will remain in place until Friday 30th June 2023.
