Kerry County Council Hosts Civic Reception For BT Young Scientist Winners

Kerry County Council hosted a Civic Reception on Monday to honour Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise Murphy, the overall winners of the 2025 BT Young Scientist award at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in January.

The reception took place after the March Meeting of Kerry County Council and was attended by Cathaoirleach, Breandán Fitzgerald and Kerry County Councillors, Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Fearghal Reidy and Members of the Senior Management Team.

Cathaoirleach, Breandán Fitzgerald welcomed the Murphy family, Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise, with their parents Seamus and Theresa, grandparents John and Patricia along with their School Principal from Presentation Secondary School, Tralee, Maireád Finucane and their science teacher and mentor, Helena Madigan.

‘Ciara, Saoirse and Laoise Murphy are not just recipients of the BT Young Scientist award, they are pioneers. Their winning project entitled ACT (Aid Care Treat) was designed to support emergency healthcare responses through data sharing. Their work addresses real-world challenges in emergency medical treatment, offering solutions that can transform processes, improve outcomes, and save lives.’ said Cllr Fitzgerald.
