Kerry families urged to get active together - Lyreacrompane walk

A new initiative called ‘Kerry’s Active Families’ has been established by Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership (KRSP), the aim of which is to encourage families from parents and little ones, to teenagers, aunts, uncles and grandparents to undertake some fun, sociable activities together.

With this in mind a Family Walk and Barbecue will be taking place on Sunday 9th June 2019 at Lyreacrompane Community Development Centre. There will be three walks from the centre – a 3k, a 5k and a 10k walk and these will be led by members from Tralee Mountaineering Club.

Registration for the event is free and includes transport from Castleisland, Listowel and Tralee if it is required courtesy of Local Link Kerry.

Siobhan Kearney, Programme Facilitator for Kerry Recreation and Sports Partnership says: “This will be a great family day out for all ages and we are looking forward to having people take advantage of the walkway (also known as the Mass Path) which has been recently developed at the back of the Lyreacrompane Community Development Centre.”

This family event, as part of the Healthy Kerry programme, is made possible through the collaborative efforts of all involved, locally and nationally, with particular support from Kerry County Council and the HSE through the Healthy Ireland fund in association with Kerry’s LCDC (Local Community Development Committee), the Department of Health, the Department of Children and Youth Affairs and the Department of Rural and Community Development.
