The Mall and Bridge Street in Tralee to re-open to traffic on Thursday evening at 6.00pm

The Mall and Bridge Street in Tralee will re-open to traffic on Thursday evening at 6.00pm following the completion of works costing approximately €1.7m as part of the Tralee Active Travel Town Project.

New taxi bye-laws providing for designated taxi ranks have been in place since Tuesday, 12 December, and the part-pedestrianisation of The Mall will come into effect from Thursday evening when the Mall will re-open to traffic.

From Friday morning, The Mall will be closed to through traffic from 10.30am to 6.00pm daily following the decision by Tralee Municipal District councillors to provide for the part-pedestrianisation of the area.

Kerry County Council is advising members of the public to be aware that there will be through traffic on the Mall from Thursday onwards between the hours of 6.00pm and 10.30am daily and is encouraging motorists and pedestrians to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements.

The taxi rank on the Mall will be operational from 7.00pm on Thursday evening and thereafter from 7pm to 7am daily.

The loading bay on the Mall (the same location as the night-time taxi rank) will be operational for deliveries from Saturday morning and every day thereafter from 7am – 10.30am.

Summary:

Up to 7am – Taxi rank in operation on The Mall
7 – 10.30am – Loading bay in operation on The Mall (same location as taxi rank)
10.30am – Street closes to through traffic
6.00pm – Street re-opens to through traffic
7.00pm – Taxi rank in operation on The Mall (to 7am)
