Town Centre Health Checks
Kerry County Council engaged Hub Planning to deliver a Town Centre Health Check for the individual towns of Dingle/Daingean Uí Chúis and Ballybunion. This project was funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development under the Town Centre First Policy.
The Town Centre Health Check provides a baseline analysis, in accordance with Town Centre First Policy, to identify key town priorities and evaluate their vitality, resilience and performance.
The Health Check methodology follows the Heritage Council’s 15-step Collaborative Town Centre Health Check process, which includes.
- Public consultation
- Business consultation
- Desktop audits and on-site surveys.
- Land use audits.
This process provides a structured and inclusive approach, capturing a snapshot in time, to evaluate the current economic, social, and environmental conditions of a town centre whilst placing the community at the heart of the assessment, ensuring that local voices are central to any proposed changes and future developments.
