The facility, at Knockeendubh, on the outskirts of the town, will provide approximately 2,300 burial spaces or plots.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The opening of the graveyard on Wednesday morning was attended by the Cathaoirleach of the Killarney Municipal District, Cllr John Sheahan and the elected members of the Killarney Municipal District as well as the Minister of State at the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, Brendan Griffin TD and Chief Executive of Kerry County Council, Moira Murrell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A multi-faith ceremony also took place to mark the opening. Burial plots are now available to those of all faiths and none. A car park at the graveyard, just off the Killarney-Kilcummin road, has also been completed and in time, the facility will also incorporate a columbarium wall for the placement of urns containing cremated remains.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cllr Sheahan thanked the staff of Kerry County Council who helped to bring the facility to fruition.
