Plans for the development of the public realm on the former Denny Bacon Factory site as well as the development of an office block with retail space are going on public display until 20 March.

The proposals represent the first significant on-site developments at the Island of Geese which was recently the subject of a design masterplan. The proposals include the development of a three-storey office development with a retail/restaurant/café unit on the ground floor. Also proposed is a public realm space covering approximately one-third of the space

A linear park with an appropriate balance of hard and soft landscaping. The plans will go on public display at Council offices at Rathass and Prince’s Quay from this Wednesday until Friday, 20th March under the Part VIII planning process. The details will also be available on the council website, www.kerrycoco.ie

Mayor of Tralee, Cllr Jim Finucane welcomed the proposals which he said should be considered by the people of Tralee and beyond to ensure there is strong public input into the plans.

“It is wonderful to see proposals taking shape for work on the Island of Geese site. This is a hugely important site for Tralee town centre and it represents a great opportunity to grow and develop the wider town centre. Since the site was cleared last year, there has been significant interest and excitement in Tralee about how the space will be developed. I look forward to considering the views of members of the public,’ he said.

Following the completion of the public consultation on the plans, a report will be presented to councillors in the Tralee Municipal District for their consideration. Proposals for residential and community developments on the site will be published in the coming months.

[/et_pb_blurb][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_4″ _builder_version=”4.0.11″][et_pb_accordion _builder_version=”3.13″ use_border_color=”off” global_module=”5957″ saved_tabs=”all”][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Contact Us” _builder_version=”3.13″ open=”on”]

Kerry County Council [/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Social Media” _builder_version=”3.13″ open=”off”]

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”Useful Links” _builder_version=”3.13″ open=”off”]

[/et_pb_accordion_item][/et_pb_accordion][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

‘Important Notice regarding Island of Geese Part 8 Planning ApplicationsThe Closing Date for receipt of Submissions and Observations in relation to Part 8 Planning Applications for ;Island of Geese Public RealmDevelopment of an Office Block with a Retail/Restaurant/Café Unit on the ground floor – the Island of GeeseHas been extended to the 29th of May 2020.Submissions […]
