Storm Gerrit / Status Orange Weather Warning

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange warning for heavy rainfall in Kerry which will be in effect from 8pm on St Stephen’s Day to midnight (12am) on Thursday. Intense heavy showers are forecast and there is a likelihood of localised flooding in many areas on Tuesday night and throughout Wednesday.

Kerry County Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team has alerted crews across the county who will be on standby to any issues which might arise. The Council’s emergency phone number will be available for the duration of the weather warning and can be contacted on 066 7183588.

As a precaution, Kerry County Council is making sandbags available to members of the public at the following locations (from 3.30pm today):
