Tel:  066 91 51082 Email:  fnabdaingean@eircom.net  Web:  www.feilenabealtaine.ie  Féile na Bealtaine is an arts and political festival held in West Kerry.  The festival celebrates the traditional art of storytelling, song, music and dance as well as contemporary visual arts and literature.

 JUNE

 

Listowel Writer’s Week – Listowel 2nd – 6th  Eilish Wren, 24 The Square, Listowel.  Tel:  068 21074  Email:  info@writersweek.ie  Web:  www.writersweek.ie  Writer’s Week is a literary festival devoted to the cause of the writer.  This ideal is achieved through literary competitions, three day workshops, readings, seminars, lectures, book launches, etc.

 

 

World Bodhrán Championships – Milltown  4th – 7th  Dan Cronin, Community Centre, Milltown. Tel:  087 773 9553  Email:  bodhranchampionship@eircom.net  Web:  www.worldbodhranchampionships.com  The World Bodhrán Championships is a world percussion festival held annually in Milltown.  It promotes and showcases the Irish frame drum, the bodhrán. The festival includes competitions and workshops.

 

Kilgarvan Traditional Music Festival – Kilgarvan  5th – 6th Eileen Healy Rae, Main St.Kilgarvan. Tel:  087 997 5419 Kilgarvan Music Festival is held every year on the June Bank Holiday Weekend.  Workshops held free of charge for all the children of Kilgarvan and surrounding parishes.

 

 

Féile Cheoil – Lixnaw  19th – 20th Bridie Stack, Ballyhorgan, Lixnaw. Tel:  066 71 32462 Email:  bridiestack@hotmail.com  Incorporating the 25th anniversary of the opening of the Ceolann Cultural Centre.  Events taking place include traditional step dancing competitions, music and singing competitions and a celebrity concert.  All events will be held in the Ceolann Cultural Centre.

 

Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí – Causeway   23rd – 27th  John Leen, Foxfort, Causeway. Tel:  087 222 1733  Email:  evelynandjohn@eircom.net  From its beginning, the goal of the Fleadh Cheoil was to establish standards in Irish traditional music through competition.  As in previous years, Fleadh Cheoil Chiarraí 2010 while keeping its competitive side will also include many concerts, céilíthe, parades and sessions.  This event promises to be a major attraction for Causeway and the surrounding areas.

Art forms include poetry, art, music and drama.

Castlegregory Summer Festival – Castlegregory 7th – 11th  Michael Cahillane, West Main St.Castlegregory. Tel:  066 71 39422  Email:  castleinfo@eircom.net   One of the oldest festivals in the country.  It is a five day festival packed with family entertainment for all age groups to enjoy.

 

 

Ballyheigue Summer Festival - Ballyheigue  13th – 18th   Maurice Lawlor, Ballymacquin, Ardfert.  Tel:  087 982 9627   Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Ballyheigue Summer Festival.  Arts events include storytelling, performance arts and mixed medium painting.

 

Fleadh Cheoil na Mumhan   15th – 18th  Donald Lynch, Kenmare.  Tel:087 2444 733 Web:  www.comhaltas.ie  Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Comhaltas in Kerry and the 50th Anniversary of the Munster Fleadh Cheoil which is the provincial level of All-Ireland Irish music, singing and dancing competitions.
