Green Schools

Green-Schools is an environmental education programme run by An Taisce in conjunction with local Authorities across Ireland. The Green-Schools programme is long-term and student-led, with students receiving input from the wider community.

Green-Schools puts both primary and secondary schools at the forefront of protecting their local environment, with students covering the following 10 themes:

  • Litter and Waste
  • Energy
  • Water
  • Travel
  • Biodiversity
  • Global Citizenship Litter and Waste
  • Global Citizenship Energy
  • Global Citizenship Marine Environment
  • Global Citizenship Travel
  • Global Citizenship Food and Biodiversity

Many schools throughout Kerry have achieved Green-School status and display the internationally recognised Green Flag, showcasing their commitment to the environment.
